If waking up steps from the sea, sipping coffee while watching fish swim by, and catching golden hour on your own private terrace sounds like your kind of trip, Terra Mare Milos should be at the top of your list.
We knew we wanted to book at least one stay that felt like we were directly on the water and Terra Mare Milos was the perfect place to make that a reality. We ended up booking the bottom suite and – spoiler – it might’ve been our favorite stay on the island. Maybe our favorite of the entire trip! It checked every box: peaceful location, beautiful design, and the perfect patio to relax all day on.
And, the biggest draw? You are literally on the water. No dramatic cliff. No trek to the beach. Just open the patio doors and step straight into the Aegean. If you’re after something romantic, quiet, and actually oceanfront – this spot delivers.

Location
Terra Mare is located in a quiet cove area called Mytakas on the northern coast of Milos. It’s a quiet, low-key spot tucked between Sarakiniko and Pollonia, away from the busier fishing villages that tend to fill up with tourists by mid-morning.
We loved that it felt private and low-key without being remote! You’re still only 10-15 minutes from all the main spots like Mandrakia, Plaka, Klima, and Sarakiniko.
Even during high season, it felt like our own little slice of Milos. No crowds. No noise. Just sea, sky, and the occasional sound of waves rolling onto the rocks. Actual perfection.

How to Get There
Getting to Milos is pretty straightforward, but you’ve got two main options:
- By Ferry: There are multiple daily ferries from Athens (Piraeus Port), and the high-speed options usually take about 3-4 hours. It’s a scenic ride, and a great way to ease into your arrival.
- By Plane: Milos has a small airport with quick 40-minute flights from Athens. It’s a super easy in and out, but you’ll likely be on a small prop plane, so beware – it can get a little bumpy!
Once you’re on the island, renting a car at the airport or port is the move (and you’ll want one for this stay). Terra Mare is about 15 minutes from both Adamantas (the Milos port) and the airport. It’s tucked away down a short dirt path just off the main road – easy to find, but definitely feels off the beaten path in the best way.
Terra Mare Milos Review
The Room: The Bottom Suite
There are two options when booking – either the top or bottom suite. We booked the bottom suite, and it ended up being one of the dreamiest spots. The design had that same charming fisherman’s house feel you find across the island, but it was updated in a way that felt modern and totally our style.
The suite itself is bright, open, and super thoughtfully designed. It’s one big open space with a double bed, a little lounge area, a kitchenette, and a modern bathroom. The aesthetic is simple but beautiful – muted colors, natural textures, and clean, airy lines that let the view do all the talking.
But what really makes it is the private terrace. That’s where we spent most of our time – coffee in the mornings, sunset wine in the evenings, and lots of just laying out, doing absolutely nothing.

Service & Host Experience
The service here felt so personal and easy in the best way. We messaged Dimitris, our host, via WhatsApp before arrival and throughout the stay – and he was amazing. Super responsive and gave us some of our favorite local recommendations. He checked in during our trip to make sure everything was perfect!
The welcome set up was so thoughtful, too! The fridge was stocked with juice, milk, toast, jam, apples, crackers, and coffee essentials – plus plenty of bottled water (a must, since the tap water in Milos isn’t drinkable). It’s those little things that really set the tone and make you feel taken care of right from the start.
Water Access & Outdoor Space
Let’s be real: the outdoor space is the reason to book this place. Every morning we’d roll out of bed, make coffee, and sit outside feeding the fish or just watching the cove come to life.
You can swim right from your private staircase into the sea – morning dips are a must! There’s also a quiet little beach just steps away from your front door, too. And, the best part – you can rinse right off with the outdoor shower on the side of the patio!
Sunset was equally magical. We’d pour a glass of wine, settle into the loungers, and just watch the sky change. The colors bouncing off the crystal clear water was one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen.
If you wander to the right of the terrace along the rocks, there are also some tide pools worth checking out. You’ll spot sea urchins, tiny fish, and – if you’re lucky – a sneaky little eel or two! We had one pop out to grab a piece of bread we tossed in. Don’t worry, though – eels in Milos keep to themselves and stick to the edges. Just watch your step and you’ll be totally fine.

Kitchen & Dining
We didn’t do any real cooking during our stay (too many great tavernas calling our name), but the kitchenette was perfect for breakfasts and snack prep. It’s equipped with all the basics – stovetop, kettle, mini fridge, dishes – anything you could need if you cooked a meal at the place!
We stocked up on a few snacks before getting in for mornings on the go, and that was all we really needed. Especially since they stocked the place with some easy snacks for us, too!

Getting Around
We rented a car for most of our time in Milos, and it was 100% the right move. The island is small but super spread out, with a mix of paved roads and bumpy off-road sections. A car made it easy to hop between beaches, towns, and dinner spots without relying on transfers or taxis.
We also rented an ATV for a day, which was such a fun experience and necessary when exploring some of the more rugged areas (like the drive to the sulfur mines).
Parking at Terra Mare was super easy, and we never had trouble finding spots at beaches or in town – especially if we aimed for early mornings or later dinners. If you’re planning to stay here, having your own wheels is a must. It gives you the freedom to explore the island at your own pace, which is honestly half the fun of Milos.

What’s Nearby
Even though Terra Mare Milos feels totally tucked away, you’re only a short drive from some of the island’s best beaches and low-key food spots. Here’s what we loved nearby:
Beaches
- Sarakiniko Beach (10 min): Milos’ most iconic beach. White volcanic rock, turquoise water, and lunar vibes. Go early to beat the crowds.
- Papafragas Beach (8 min): A hidden cove carved into cliffs. It’s a tiny beach but super photogenic and great for a quick dip.
- Firopotamos (20 min): A colorful fishing village beach with calm waters and a more local, lived-in feel.
- My favorite secret swim spot – Honestly? The private terrace at Terra Mare. You can’t beat that morning swim.

Restaurants
- O! Hamos! Tavern (10 min): Farm-to-table and family-run with handwritten menus and wild flavors. Great for lunch near the port.
- Medusa in Mandrakia (12 min): Fresh seafood right on the rocks. Casual but iconic. Get the grilled octopus and thank us later.
- Barriello in Tripiti (15 min): Elevated Greek food in a romantic setting. Perfect for a sunset dinner with views.
- Enalion in Pollonia (15 min): Great for a slightly more upscale seaside dinner. Their shrimp pasta is a standout.

Towns
- Plaka (15 min): The hilltop capital. Super charming with narrow alleyways, boutique shops, and the best sunset spot if you’re out exploring.
- Pollonia (15 min): A small seaside town that’s perfect for a calm evening walk and dinner by the water.
- Mandrakia (12 min): A postcard-perfect fishing village with a handful of boat garages carved into the rock. Small but super charming, and a great lunch stop if you’re exploring the north coast.
- Klima (20 min): Tiny, colorful, and full of character. Known for its row of bright syrma right on the sea.

Tips Before You Go
- Bring snacks or groceries – there’s no market nearby, so stock up in town before you check in.
- Sunsets here are next-level – you’ll want to plan your evenings around them.
- Book early – this suite only has a few units and fills up fast in peak season.
- Don’t skip the tide pools on the right side of the patio – they’re super cool to wander through.
- Couples will love this spot – but it’s also perfect for two friends looking for a chill, dreamy stay.
- Don’t overbook yourself with other things on the island – you’ll want to spend as much time in this little slice of paradise as you possibly can!
Would I Recommend It?
1000% yes. Terra Mare was one of our favorite stays in Milos – maybe even in all of Greece. It’s peaceful, well-designed, and perfectly placed to give you that off-the-radar feel without sacrificing comfort or convenience.
If you’re traveling with a partner or close friend and want something romantic, quiet, and truly special – this is it.
