What to Know Before Going
Cost & Booking
After much research, we chose to book our sailing day with Polco Sailing through Trip Advisor. There is so much to see on the coast of Milos, including a few beaches & coves only accessible by boat, so I really wanted to make sure the cruise we chose hit all of the spots. Polco checked all the boxes, plus they had amazing reviews. And I’m happy to say they totally delivered! Plus their catamaran was absolutely stunning!
The cruise cost around $240 per person, which might seem a little steep at first, but when you factor in that it’s an 8-hour full-day tour with unlimited snacks, soft drinks, beer, and wine, the value is definitely there. Since we only had one day to spend on the water, we wanted to make sure it was perfect, and we trusted Polco to give us exactly that!

Tips for the Perfect Sailing Day
- Book early: These tours fill up fast during peak seasons, so be sure to secure your spot in advance.
- Bring sunscreen: The sun can get intense, so be sure to reapply throughout the day. The crew also has plenty of sunscreen in case you forget! They were the best at reminding us to reapply.
- Wear a hat and sunglasses: While there’s shady areas of the boat, most of the day you’ll be in direct sunlight. Don’t forget your hats & sunglasses!
- Ideal season: The cruise is perfect for peak season, with the chances of clear skies and good weather starting from mid-to-late May through Sept. It can get REALLY hot in peak summer, so be prepared for higher temperatures.
Food & Drinks
The cruise offers unlimited beer and wine to keep you refreshed throughout the day. They also prepare a large Greek BBQ for lunch, with freshly grilled meats and local specialties. Don’t skip the anchovy toast – spread some tzatziki down and top with the anchovies for a delish bite. I promise, I’m not an anchovy person, but it’s a big delicacy in Milos and VERY tasty! There are also fresh fruits available throughout the day, perfect for a light refreshing meal in the sun.
Activities Onboard
Onboard, you’ll have the chance to snorkel, swim through sea caves, paddle-board, or simply relax and enjoy the views. The crew is fun and keeps the energy high, with music and an overall lively atmosphere. They also have a GoPro onboard, where you’ll be able to get some shots of you jumping off the side of the boat, or swimming underwater! Whether you’re swimming at every stop or just soaking in the sun on the deck, there’s always plenty to do!

What to Expect On the Cruise
The tour leaves right from the Adamantas pier (the same place your ferry drops you off). It’s an early start, so be sure to arrive a few minutes early to grab a coffee and find parking. We truly lucked out with the weather on the day of our tour. It was all calm waters, barely a breeze – it felt like we were sailing on a giant mirror. It was insanely gorgeous, I’ve never seen the ocean quite like that.
You’ll sail past some of the island’s most famous spots, exploring hidden coves and beaches only accessible by boat. Our swim stops included Kalogries, Kleftiko, Galazia Nera, and Gerakas, each offering incredibly clear waters perfect for swimming, cliff jumping, and snorkeling. And, along the way, we also passed by some iconic Milos locations like Klima, Vani, Sykia Cave, Tsigrado, Sulfur Mines, Glaronisia, and Arkoudes – each more stunning than the last.
The water across all of the coves is literally gatorade blue & so clear you don’t even need goggles to see the little fish swimming around you. It’s such a magical experience you cannot miss out on! Get ready for a day you won’t forget!

Sailing Around Milos
Pass By: Klima Village
Coming out of Adamantas, one of the first sights you’ll see is the fishing village of Klima – a bright mix of fisherman houses called syrmas lining the ocean front. It’s an adorable little village well worth visiting on land, but also cool to see from the sea!

Stop 1: Galazia Nera (The Blue Lagoon)
Our first swim stop was Galazia Nera, also known as the Blue Lagoon. The water here is as blue as it gets – bright and vibrant, and so clear you can see straight to the bottom. Like literally gatorade blue water. It was so stunning.
We snorkeled and floated in the water, surrounded by tall cliffs that had vibrant mineral colors from the surrounding rocks. It felt like we were in a hidden paradise, away from the usual crowds. Since we were there quite early, the only other people around us were charted yachts that we’re likely out there over night!

Pass By: Sulfur Mines
As we sailed along the coast, we passed the old Sulfur Mines, which was such a cool sight from the sea. The contrast between the bright blue water and the rusty colors of the old mining structures is beautiful. You wont stop here, but it’s still a really unique sighting. It even inspired us to trek out here on an ATV later on our trip!

Stop 2: Kleftiko
The highlight of the trip was Kleftiko, a pirate hideout with an amazing history and one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever visited. The name Kleftiko comes from the Greek word for “thieves”. It used to be used by pirates as a secret hideout! And another bonus – you guessed it, more crystal clear water!
We spent time swimming through the sea caves, jumping off the boat, and snorkeling in the stunning water. The crew provided us with masks and snorkels, and you can even take out the paddle-board in the calm waters. We spent the longest here, at almost an hour, and after exploring, we had the BBQ lunch on the boat while soaking in the views.

Pass By: Sykia Cave
After Kleftiko, you’ll pass by Sykia Cove, one of Milos’ most famous natural wonders. It’s another sea cave that was used by pirates as a hideout, much like Kleftiko, due to its secluded nature and the protective cliffs surrounding it. The entrance to the cave is narrow but opens up into a spacious cavern where boats can navigate around!
Although we didn’t go all the way in on this particular cruise since we were on a large catamaran, it was still a cool sight to see. If you’re looking to explore the cave & go inside of it, you’ll need to book a different sailing trip that can fit through the narrow entrance. We’ve heard is a cool experience, too!

Stop 3: Gerakas
Next, we sailed to Gerakas, a secluded beach only accessible by boat. The water here was emerald green, and the surrounding landscape was dotted with perlite sand slides – a type of volcanic rock that’s lightweight and often looks like powdery white sand. It creates a super unique, almost otherworldly vibe. It was the perfect spot to relax, swim, and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.

Stop 4: Kalogries
Our final stop was Kalogries, another hidden beach with crystal-clear waters and beautiful cliffs surrounding the shoreline. Get one last jump into the ocean here! It was the perfect spot to wind down, relax, and chill out before making our way back to the port.

Bon voyage!
Sailing around Milos and Poliegos is hands down one of the best ways to experience this stunning island. Between the hidden beaches, crystal-clear waters, and unforgettable views, a Milos sailing tour is an absolute must for anyone visiting!
Bon voyage, and happy sailing!
