One of the best surprises about Milos (aside from the beaches, of course) is just how truly delicious the food is. For an island that still feels authentic and low-key, the food scene is seriously impressive. From simple gyros you’ll crave long after your trip, to tiny tavernas tucked along the water serving just-caught seafood, the restaurants in Milos feel like a true extension of the island experience.
Whether you’re grabbing a quick bite before a beach day or settling into a long seaside dinner as the sun dips behind the cliffs, be prepared for some memorable dishes & views. Here’s a roundup of my favorite spots to eat and drink, including the casual, the cozy, and the extra special.

How Dining Works in Milos & What to Expect
We found Milos to be one of the chillest restaurant scenes across the islands we visited. Most tavernas are family-run, menus focus on fresh seafood and local ingredients, and meals happen at a slower, more relaxed pace than on bigger islands.
And one thing I loved? You really don’t need reservations here like you would on islands like Santorini & Mykonos. Even the popular spots like Medusa and Astakas were easy walk-ins as long as you time it right.
- For sunset meals in Klima or Plaka: Arrive right when they open or slightly before sunset crowds roll in.
- For Medusa or Sirocco: Get there early (right before opening) or after the main lunch rush.
- For casual eats in Adamantas or Plaka: Walk-ups are almost always fine.
Because each village has its own personality, where you eat ends up shaping the vibe of your day:
- Plaka: Cozy alleyway tavernas, great before or after sunset viewpoints.
- Adamantas: The most variety, plus cafés, bakeries, and late-night drinks.
- Mandrakia, Klima & Paliochori: Those iconic “table on the water” meals Milos is famous for.
Expect generous portions, shared plates, and fresh ingredients. Milos meals are meant to be enjoyed slowly, not rushed.
The best Restaurants in Milos
Quick Bites & Casual Eats
Gyros of Milos (Plaka)
If you’re staying near Plaka, this is the place to go for a hearty, affordable gyro after exploring the alleys and catching sunset. Fast, tasty, and budget-friendly.
O! Hamos! (Adamantas)
This family-run taverna is a Milos institution. The menu highlights local ingredients from their own farm — think grilled meats, baked vegetables, and slow-cooked stews served in clay pots. Expect a wait, but it’s worth every minute for some of the best home-style food on the island.
Local Bakeries & Cafés
Throughout Adamantas and Pollonia, you’ll find small bakeries and cafés serving strong Greek coffee, fresh pastries, and savory pies. They’re ideal for slow mornings or mid-day refueling between beach stops.

Seaside Taverns with a View
Medusa (Mandrakia)
If I had to pick one spot that sums up the Milos food experience, it’s Medusa. Set in the tiny fishing village of Mandrakia, this taverna serves seafood so fresh you can watch the boats bringing it in. Order the octopus and fried zucchini chips, grab a table by the water, and soak in the postcard-perfect view.
Astakas (Klima)
Dinner at Astakas is as romantic as it gets. Tables are set literally on the sand, and when the sun sets over Klima’s colorful syrmata houses, it feels straight out of a movie. The menu leans seafood-heavy, and the grilled fish is always a standout.
Sirocco (Paliochori)
Paliochori isn’t just famous for its volcanic coastline — Sirocco is the taverna that puts the geothermal energy to work. Try the lamb or fish baked under the hot sand for a one-of-a-kind meal you’ll only find in Milos.

Elevated Dining
Mikros Apoplous (Adamantas)
For a slightly more refined evening, head to Mikros Apoplous. The setting is upscale without being stuffy, and the seafood pasta here is worth the hype. Pair it with a bottle of local wine and you’ve got the makings of a perfect Milos night.
Avli-Milos (Plaka)
Tucked into Plaka’s charming alleys, Avli feels cozy and inviting. It’s a great spot for traditional Greek dishes with a bit of a modern twist — perfect before catching the famous Plaka sunset.
Archontoula (Plaka)
Archontoula is another gem in Plaka, and one of my favorite meals we had in Milos! Balancing a traditional taverna vibe with elevated dishes, it’s a lively, family owned spot where you can grab a table right on the streets of Plaka. Get the moussaka and the Kritamokeftedes (fried, cheesy balls) and sip on a bottle of wine. It’s great people watching and overall amazing vibes.

Local Dishes & Drinks to Try in Milos
Milos has its own unique food traditions that you’ll want to try at least once while you’re here. Beyond fresh seafood and classic Greek fare, keep an eye out for:
- Pitarakia: Small hand pies filled with local cheese and herbs.
- Karpouzenia: A sweet watermelon pie made with sesame and honey, unique to Milos.
- Kleftiko: Lamb slow-cooked in parchment with vegetables, potatoes, and herbs – our favorite was at O! Hamos.
- Vinegar Octopus: Hung outside tavernas to dry, then marinated in vinegar; tender, tangy, and one of the best things to order at Medusa.
- Ntomatokeftedes – Deep-fried tomato fritters made with tiny island tomatoes.
- Goat Stew: A hearty mountain dish that shows off the island’s rustic side.
- Local Cheeses: Try Manoura and other goat’s cheeses from local farms (this was a must-add to any meal we had in Milos!)
- Wine & Spirits: Milos produces crisp white wines like Assyrtiko and Aidani, plus bold reds like Mandilaria. Pair them with seafood or sip tsipouro/ouzo with meze at a taverna.
Drinks & Nightlife
Utopia Café-Bar (Plaka)
An absolute must for sunset. Utopia’s terrace overlooks the sea, and it’s the most iconic spot in Milos for cocktails with a view. Get there early — it fills up fast.
Aragosta (Adamantas)
By day, Aragosta is a casual restaurant; by night, it turns into a sleek lounge with cocktails and Cycladic wines overlooking the port. It’s a great option for a relaxed but polished evening.
DECK (Pollonia)
For something laid-back, head to DECK in Pollonia. Its open-air setup, seaside views, and casual cocktails make it a great spot for golden hour.
