Valle De Guadalupe’s Coolest New Spot: Bloodlust Wine Bar

If you’ve been here before (or know me personally), you’re likely well aware of my obsession with Valle de Guadalupe. So when I heard about Bloodlust Wine Bar, a brand-new bar tucked inside a garlic-shaped dome (yes, you read that right), I immediately added it to my must-visit list. And let me tell you – the aesthetic, energy, and wine all delivered.

Valle de Guadalupe is one of my favorite weekend getaways from LA – just about a four-hour drive, but it feels like a completely different world. Between the design-forward wineries, incredible food, and that effortlessly cool Baja vibe, I try to make the trip at least once a year. What better reason to plan a new trip then to check out the coolest new wine bar?

This post is all about the Bloodlust experience, but if you’re planning a longer trip and want more deets on where to stay, sip, and eat while you’re in Valle, I’ve got you covered. Check out some of my go-to guides below:

About Bloodlust Wine bar

In 2022, Alfonso Muriedas opened up the wine bar, which also is a music venue hosting live bands on the weekends. Come to split a bottle of wine and an app, wander around the property, listen to the music, and take all the pictures your heart desires.

The space is located off of a dirt road right off of El Tigre. Make sure to drive slow, and avoid the bumps in the road, but it’s not terrible, especially for Valle.

Bloodlust is known to be a hot spot, especially on Saturday’s, when they typically have live music in the evenings. You can check out their Instagram for updates on shows & events. I highly recommend making a reservation in advance if they have live music, that way you can make sure you’ll have a table.

Overall Vibe

I don’t think I’ve ever experienced a place as unique as Bloodlust. The vibe feels like a mixture of the funky, psychedelic 70s merged with outer-space, even Star Wars-ish. Come just before sunset to get the full experience. You’ll see the space in the sunlight, and watch as the glow of sunset warms the natural space. At night, when the red lights all around the property start to glow, you’ll feel like you’re in another world.

The exterior, which to me, looks more like garlic, is shaped to resemble multiple drops of wine. And you’ll find inside to be dark & moody, with dripping candlesticks on every table.

Coming on a Saturday means the vibes will be even more eclectic. You’ll get to see either a DJ or live band blasting vibey tunes throughout the entire property, adding to the moody atmosphere. Bloodlust closes at 10PM, though, so you can still get back to your hotel at a decent hour!

What To Order

The menu offers about 5 natural wines by the glass, or you can try one of each with their tasting option. The tasting goes for about $30, decently high for Valle pricing. Or you can get a bottle to split. They have a lot more bottles on the menu, so we chose to try out a merlot, which was so light & refreshing.

The bar has many options for light bites, including several pizzas made on the wood grill outside. Since we were just stopping by before dinner, we went with the ceviche for a light bite. It was perfection!

And, Don’t Miss nights here!

The nighttime gives such a different feel to the bar. The lights shining from inside the main area of Bloodlust has this otherworldly glow to it. If your lucky and it’s a clear day, you’ll even get a good look of all the stars!
