Valle de Guadalupe is easily one of my favorite weekend getaways from Southern California. Home to more than 150 wineries, Mexico’s premier wine region has everything from intimate boutique vineyards to stunning architectural tasting rooms overlooking the valley. It’s really the Napa Valley of Baja California.
The hard part isn’t finding a winery—it’s deciding which ones are actually worth your time.
After several trips exploring Valle, these are the wineries I continue recommending to friends. Whether you’re looking for incredible wine, beautiful views, or an unforgettable tasting experience, these are the best wineries in Valle de Guadalupe.

Quick Deets: What to Know Before Visiting Valle Wineries
- Do you need reservations?
- Yes. Most wineries require reservations, especially on weekends. Many accept bookings directly through their website, while others use platforms like Tock or OpenTable.
- How much do tastings cost?
- Most tastings cost between $15–40 USD
- How many wineries should you visit in one day?
- Three is the sweet spot. Wine tastings typically last 60–90 minutes, and you’ll want to leave time to enjoy the scenery and stop for lunch without feeling rushed.
- Do you need a designated driver?
- Absolutely. Valle de Guadalupe is spread out, and ride shares can be difficult to find. Hiring a private driver or booking a wine tour is the easiest (and safest) way to explore.
- We always book this driver on our trips at $130 for the full-day.
- What time should you start your day?
- Aim for your first tasting around 11:00 AM, when most wineries open. This gives you plenty of time to enjoy a leisurely lunch before your afternoon tastings.
- Can you eat at the wineries?
- Many of them have incredible restaurants or food options on-site. Bruma is home to the acclaimed Fauna, while wineries like Adobe Guadalupe and Finca Altozano also offer fantastic places to enjoy lunch between tastings.
- Should you buy wine to take home?
- Definitely! Many Valle de Guadalupe wines are produced in small quantities and can be difficult to find outside of Mexico, making a bottle or two a great souvenir.
Best wineries in Valle De guadalupe
Adobe Guadalupe
This is one of my favorite tastings ever! The vibes are beautiful, and the serves are so knowledgeable. From the moment you arrive, the place feels like a warm Spanish cottage, with a beautiful garden filled with blossoming flowers. For the tastings, you are taken down the garden path, over to the white church like adobe building, where the tasting is held in their cellar. Per person, the tasting is $27.
Every wine I have tasted at Adobe Guadalupe is amazing. On one trip, I had a server that spoke impeccable English and gave us the most in-depth and intriguing history lesson on the wines, the Valle, and the vineyard. We spent a full hour chatting with her, and I’ll never forget that.
TEETS TIP: After you finish a tasting, stop by the food truck parked outside in the garden for delish Spanish tapas and an extra glass of wine, if you’re feeling it! The tongue/potatoes/shrimp dish is the best thing on the menu – don’t let the tongue scare you away, it really is amazing.
Vena Cava
Vena Cava is a very unique winery in Valle, built from reclaimed fishing boats, with a focus on natural wines. Their premium tasting comes in at $20pp, which included a mix of natural and regular wines + a cheese board.
The tastings are done in their cellar, right underneath the boat ceiling, at every hour starting at 11:00am. We thought the wine was okay, though nothing blew us away. But, overall I’ve always enjoyed the experience and hearing about the background of the place. It’s definitely a unique option, with a nice mellow vibe.
TEETS TIP: After the tasting, head outside to the Troika food truck for lunch – hosted underneath a canopy, which is necessary in the dessert heat. The patio has a spectacular view of the vineyards, and we ordered a couple different tacos to split among us. The octopus tostadas were a huge hit.
Finca La Carrodilla
Finca La Carrodilla is charming little gem, with a wine tasting on their rooftop terrace overlooking the vineyard. The prices here are a little higher than elsewhere in the Valle, $23 USD for 3 tastings, but it’s worth it for their organic wines.
This has been a favorite of mine time & time again. I never leave without purchasing, a few bottles. Plus, their cheese board is insane! The cheeses served are fresh & organic, and just feel so light. The pesto and jam they serve alongside the cheese is *chef’s kiss*. I truly dream about the cheese when it’s been too long since I’ve been back!
Casa Magoni
A new favorite of mine, Casa Magoni is one of those wineries that feels like a true hidden gem – relaxed, scenic, and all about good wine without any pretense. The property is beautiful, with rows of vines that seem to stretch forever, and the tasting experience is super approachable (and affordable). Grab a table outside underneath the oak trees, and choose from one of their several tasting options.
Their whites and blends are especially good – crisp, balanced, and perfect for an afternoon under the sun. And, they have a Nebbiolo on their menu that might be my favorite wine ever. The service is also some of the best I’ve had in all of Valle, with such knowledge and friendly staff. If you can, try to get Daniel as your sever – he was so helpful and really made our experience!
Casa Magoni is really the kind of place where you’ll want to sit back, enjoy the view, and just take your time.
Bloodlust Wine Bar
I don’t think I’ve ever experienced a place as unique as Bloodlust. The vibe feels like a mixture of the funky, psychedelic 70s merged with outer-space, even Star Wars-ish. The exterior, which to me, looks more like garlic, is shaped to resemble multiple drops of wine. And you’ll find inside to be dark & moody, with dripping candlesticks on every table.
The tastings goes for about $30, decently high for Valle pricing, and while offered, the real highlight of this place is their extensive wine list when purchasing by the bottle. I’d recommend getting a recco from your waiter, and spliting it with your friends. And, if you’re here on a Saturday, expect a DJ and vibey music to be flowing through the space.
Come just before sunset to get the full experience. You’ll see the space in the sunlight, and watch as the glow of sunset warms the natural space. At night, when the red lights all around the property start to glow, you’ll feel like you’re in another world.

Bruma Winery
Bruma is easily one of the most beautiful wineries in Valle de Guadalupe. The modern architecture blends perfectly into the surrounding vineyards, making it one of those places where you’ll want to slow down, sip your wine, and take it all in.
The wines here are excellent, but honestly, the entire experience is what makes Bruma stand out. The tasting feels relaxed, the property is stunning, and every corner seems photo-worthy without feeling overly staged.
If you visit Bruma, I highly recommend making a reservation at Fauna, the winery’s on-site restaurant – it’s my all-time favorite. It’s consistently ranked as one of the best restaurants in Valle de Guadalupe and is absolutely worth planning your day around. Or if you’re there closer to lunch time, Bruma Wine Garden is another amazing food option.
Between the beautiful setting, great wine, and incredible food, Bruma is one of my favorite wineries in Valle and an easy recommendation for first-time visitors.
Monte Xanic
Monte Xanic is a classic in VDG – everyone always has rave reviews about it. Your tasting is done with a beautiful view overlooking the pond. The standard tasting is 4 wines for $25 USD, which were nice and refreshing.
Note, our server didn’t speak the best English (I’m sure there are servers that do! And, don’t let that hold you back, we are in Mexico after all). But it was tough to get the best understanding of what we were drinking because of that. Overall I fully enjoyed myself, the sun, and a nice little cheese plate.
El Cielo Resort & Winery
El Cielo is a huge property home to a full resort and winery. I have only done their tastings outside on the wagon, but have heard the cellar tasting is wonderful, as well. The outdoor tasting is such a fun experience – you get to try different wines, while riding around the vineyards.
It is a shared experience, so there will be a group of 10-15 people total on your wagon. Even with all the other people, you can still learn so much, and if you like meeting new people, it’s a great bonding experience!
If you arrive before your tasting, spend some time exploring the property by yourself. They have bikes available to take out, and it’s such fun to explore the vineyards on your own. And, on the weekends, they host a bbq party outside, with a full roasted pig, so be sure to hang out for that!
Bodegas Cieli
I found this wonderful gem of a winery at the recommendation of our hotel manager, a long-time local, and I am so happy we listened to him. Bodegas Cieli is a quaint location that sits at the top of a hill overlooking the valley. It’s family run, and Don, the owner, and his wife, are likely to be there when you stop by!
The vibe is very rustic and homey. Enjoy a glass of wine here, or grab a beer – they have a great selection if you need a break from all the wine! If you can time it with sunset, it’s also one of the best locations to watch from. There’s a few kittens that roam the outside, too, so you might get a bit of a cuddle from one.
Descanso Vinicolo
Descanso Vinicolo is known for their huge outdoor greens and lively atmosphere. It’s a great place to come with a big group and post up at a picnic table outside. The tastings can be done indoors, or outdoors at your own pace. Just order a tasting, grab your wine, hang out at your table or walk around, and then go back to the bar for your next round once you’ve finished! Tasting is about $20 USD for 4x wines.
Vinas dela Erre
This was another find that our driver actually recommended! Another family-owned winery, Vinas dela Erre’s servers make you feel like you’re at home. The property is gorgeous with flowers and plants in all directions. Tastings start at $20 USD per person.
They also sell olive oil, so if you’re looking for something to take back home with you that’s not wine, I highly suggest!
Xecue Vinicolo
Come to Xecue for their outdoor terrace and more intimate vibes. If you make the trip on a Saturday, you’ll even get some live music to enjoy with your wine! The views are incredible, and if you’re hungry, the sliders are great, too.
Bar Bura at Cuatros Cuatros
While Bar Bura isn’t a winery itself, it’s located on the beautiful Cuatro Cuatros wine estate, making it an easy addition to your Valle itinerary.
Perched on the cliffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean, Bar Bura is one of my favorite places to end the day. Grab a glass of wine or a cocktail, settle in for sunset, and enjoy some of the most incredible ocean views in all of Baja. The atmosphere is unlike anywhere else in the valley and feels completely different from the vineyard tastings you’ll experience throughout the day.
If you have extra time, Cuatro Cuatros also offers wine tastings featuring their Norteado wines, making it possible to enjoy both a winery experience and sunset drinks all in one stop. But I typically prefer a cocktail at this point!
Whether you stop by after a day of wine tasting or make it your final destination before dinner, it’s absolutely worth adding to your itinerary!
Why You’ll Love Valle de Guadalupe
Valle de Guadalupe has quickly become one of my favorite places to escape for a weekend. It’s close enough for an easy road trip from Southern California, but once you’re surrounded by vineyards, great food, and rolling hills, it feels like you’re a world away.
