If you’re looking for a stay that feels completely connected to nature but still delivers that polished, design-forward vibe – Mira Earth Studios in Valle de Guadalupe is exactly that. Built right into the hillside, this spot offers the perfect blend of romance, minimalism, and eco-chic luxury. This Mira Earth Studios review will show you why it’s one of the dreamiest places to stay in Valle de Guadalupe.
We stayed one night at the end of September, when the weather was still warm but not unbearable – think mid-70s days and crisp desert nights. From the moment we arrived, Mira had that quiet, grounding feel that instantly slows you down.
If you’re wondering where to stay in Valle de Guadalupe, Mira Earth Studios is one of the most romantic and design-forward options in Baja’s wine country. You really can’t go wrong with this stunning destination.

Mira Earth Studios Review
The Stay
Mira is tucked high in the hills, so much so that you can barely spot it when you’re driving up the mountain. The property blends seamlessly into the desert terrain – you’ll pass through a gated entrance off the main road, and a staff member will meet you at your car to help with bags and guide you to your studio.
We stayed in one of the hillside studios, complete with a private firepit and jacuzzi. The layout felt spacious and thoughtful, with a large king bed, a full dining and seating area, and sliding glass doors that open out onto your patio. The lighting setup was one of my favorite touches – you’re given an iPad to control everything from shades to mood lighting, so it’s easy to create the perfect warm, cozy vibe at night.
Everything inside feels intentional: natural materials, soft textures, and a design that blends right into the landscape. Even the bathroom stood out – there’s a private sauna, which was such a unique and relaxing surprise.

Experience & Vibe
The entire property feels incredibly peaceful and romantic. We spent most of our time outside – sipping coffee during sunrise, stargazing from the jacuzzi, and making s’mores by the firepit (they provide all guests with a complimentary s’mores kit – how cute?). It’s quiet enough to hear the wind through the hills, and each studio feels tucked away enough that you still have tons of privacy.
At night, the floor-to-ceiling window shades double as a projector screen, which made for the coziest movie setup before bed. The built-in speakers were a nice touch too – we had soft music playing while soaking in the jacuzzi under the stars.

Amenities
Each studio includes a private outdoor jacuzzi, firepit, and terrace with desert and vineyard views. Inside, you’ll find a stocked kitchenette with a mini fridge, oven burners, pour-over coffee setup, Sonos speaker system, projector with Chromecast, and full climate control. And my favorite part – you also will have access to your very own sauna located in the bathroom!
I loved the fact that they also provided a very stocked bar and fridge, all for purchase. The wine selection was quite lovely, and they even had pre-bottled cocktails available, not to mention the many snacks. While there is no full restaurant onsite, they do provide a Ninja air-fryer and for purchase air-fry meals like pizza.
Mira Earth Studios also has the most incredible shared pool area. It is absolutely stunning – perched on the hillside with panoramic views of Valle de Guadalupe. We spent part of the afternoon there and the staff was super attentive, offering towels and waters, checking in when needed.

Food & Drinks
Mira doesn’t have a full restaurant on-site, but they recently opened Mira Poolside, a small bar and dining area serving light bites, cocktails, and local wines, right by the pool area. It’s a great spot to unwind if you want to stay on property, but since it only offers a limited menu, I’d only recommend while sitting poolside or for a quick drink & bite before dinner!
For breakfast, we ordered the “breakfast basket” to our room – which was adorable and honestly pretty generous, though you do have to cook it yourself. It came with eggs, sourdough bread, butter, jam, avocado, fruit, fresh watermelon juice, and more. There’s also an option to order the chilaquiles kit if you want something heartier, but you will also have to cook that. The cooking part made us laugh a little (for about $20 per person you’re still cracking your own eggs!), but it was fun and felt true to Mira’s relaxed, hands-on vibe.
We used the kitchenette in the morning only, and spent the rest of our meals off property. If you want to stay in, each studio also has a Ninja air fryer for quick meals (like heating up a pizza – you’ll find some in your fridge – or leftovers). But if you’re like us, and looking for a bit more substancial, check out Fauna, an amazing restaurant just down the road. Their tasting menu is insane – one of the best meals we’ve had in the Valle and comes in at around $150pp for their 12-courses. Such a worthwhile experience!

Getting There
Getting to Valle de Guadalupe is easier than it seems – and part of the fun. The region sits about 90 minutes south of the U.S.-Mexico border at San Diego/Tijuana and just 30-40 minutes inland from Ensenada. Most travelers drive down from California, crossing through the San Ysidro or Otay Mesa border points and then taking the scenic coastal Route 1D along the Pacific before turning inland toward the Valle.
If you’re flying in, the nearest airports are Tijuana (TIJ) and San Diego (SAN). From either, plan on renting a car – it’s the best way to explore the wineries, restaurants, and hillside hotels at your own pace. Or book a car service to pick you up and bring you place to place!
Once you make it to Valle, the drive to Mira Earth is easy to follow. Once you arrive at the gate, you’ll call in to their front desk, who will open the gate for you. You’ll have to trek up the mountain a bit to get to the rooms, but you’ll see plenty of signs once inside the property. If you’re arriving at night, the mountain road can be a bit dark and steep in sections, but we had no issues getting there in a sedan. Once you arrive, staff will meet you and guide you to your parking spot and room.
What’s Nearby
One of the best parts about staying at Mira Earth is how close it is to some of the Valle’s top wineries and restaurants – while still feeling remote in itself. You’ll be tucked into the hillside, but still just a short drive from incredible tasting rooms and farm-to-table spots that make this region so special. Whether you’re planning a full day of wine hopping or just a long lunch and lazy afternoon by the pool, everything you’d want to experience in the Valle is within 10-20 minutes.
Wineries
- Casa Magoni: Some of best and friendliest staff, with easy-going tastings under the shade of trees outside.
- Finca La Carrodilla: Beautiful setting overlooking the vineyards, with incredible organic wines and an amazing cheese board.
- Adobe Guadalupe: Classic Valle experience – worth a stop for both a tasting in their cellar and the beautiful views of their vineyard.
- Bloodlust Wine Bar: Vibey spot to explore the unique architecture, while also sampling their wide collection of wines.

Restaurants
- Fauna: A must-visit tasting menu – super inventive and unforgettable – located just down the street from Mira Earth. They also have an amazing brunch on the same property at Brume Wine Gardens – it’s a Michelin star meal that’s well-worth it!
- Deckman’s en el Mogor: Farm-to-table dining under the stars, on the top of the Valle de Guadalupe hills. You can sit and watch the chef cook outside on the grill, but the best part of the evening is watching the sun set over the vineyards.
- Animalón: Another fine dining restaurant set under a 100-year-old oak tree. I’ve had some of the freshest tuna here, but you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu! Stay to watch the goats run around the fenced off farm area behind the restaurant.
- Bar Bura, Cuatros Cuatros: Located on the cliffside overlooking the ocean, this restaurant has views that are hard to top! The food is not as spectacular as some of the other restaurants on this list, but the views make up for it.

Tips Before You Book
Mira Earth is geared toward couples looking for peace, design, and privacy. If you’re expecting a large resort scene, this isn’t it. But if you’re craving calm luxury and a space to relax, it’s perfect. Just note, because the hotel doesn’t have many rooms, the studios do sell out quickly – so book early, especially for weekends.
Bring layers for cool evenings, a swimsuit for the jacuzzi and pool, and make time to fully enjoy the space – this isn’t a place to rush through.
The best time to visit Valle de Guadalupe is late spring through early fall, but September and October are ideal – warm days, cool nights, and fewer crowds after harvest season.
Worth Knowing: Most of the food is DIY and there’s no on-site full service restaurant, so plan meals ahead if you don’t want to cook yourself. They do have an air-fryer and for purchase meals you can cook yourself, though. It’s part of Mira’s charm, but might surprise first-timers, especially at this price point.
Is Mira Earth Studios Worth the Price?
Mira Earth felt like the perfect mix of relaxation and design – peaceful, romantic, and beautifully in tune with its surroundings. Between the hillside views, the outdoor jacuzzi, and the cozy details like the sauna and projector, it’s easily one of the most special stays in Valle de Guadalupe.
What stood out most was how intentional Mira felt compared to other Valle stays – it’s quiet luxury without the flash. Every space feels designed for calm, not attention.
Next time, I’d plan for a full spa day to make the most of the serenity, but even with just one night, Mira gave us that feeling of being completely reset. For couples looking for a romantic getaway in Baja wine country – this is the one!
